Created by Gabrielle Miles Silverlight, ZOLA is a handcrafted line of sculptural jewelry and objects that combines traditional technique with modern design. The collection of work is informed by the exploration of a material's multiplicities, often letting the process itself guide the finished result by embracing a spirit of chance and spontaneity. Hand-carved wax for bronze casting and hand-formed ceramics are the main processes employed. ZOLA aims to create unexpected, tactile and elegant art pieces that fuse seamlessly into everyday wear or decor.
Gabrielle is a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art with a major in Glass studies and ever a curiosity for many mediums. Working in a fine arts bronze foundry for many years influenced her interest in sculpting with cast metal. In the past 4 years she also began working more with clay being drawn to its direct connection with the hands and falling in love with process, most of her techniques are self taught. Gabrielle now resides in Philadelphia, PA along with her two fluffer cats Zolaska and Miss.Mabel and is on an ongoing quest to squeeze as many plants into her studio as she can.
